Ukraine violence in Russian conflict claims 10,000 lives, injures 21,000

The invasion of Ukraine by Russia in 2014 has claimed 10,000 lives and injured more than 21,000, according to the United Nations.

During an emergency Security Council meeting in April, the warring nations blamed each other for the ongoing conflict. The United States, France and Britain hold Russia responsible for the conflict.

In February 2015, both sides reached what has been called the Minsk Agreement, an exercise meant to revive the Minsk Protocol from 2014, which was a cease-fire agreement.

Despite Ukraine’s instability, the Slavic Gospel Association (SGA) reports that churches there continue to offer hope even as people die daily.

“A lot of times in the middle of conflict, people cry out as if God forgot them, and they wonder if God exists,” said Eric Mock of SGA. “How can these things happen to them?

“Yet, in the middle of the crisis, if we look real close, we can see that God is working in ways that transcend human understanding.”

Pray for Ukraine’s churches as they minister daily in their country’s conflict with Russia.
