Christian Business People in Bistrita Romania Involved in Their Community

BISTRITA, Romania – A group of Christian business people in joined together through APA, is carrying out several projects which are transforming their community. At the center of APA Association’s activities are Christian moral principles. The initial idea was to develop a Christian business environment and the desire to spread the Gospel

“If at the beginning the organization was conceived in order to do good and to invest in the County of Bistrit-Nasaud, inasmuch we have touched our county, we have enlarged our borders and are now in southern Romania. We are organizing evangelistic meetings there. We pay evangelists to go there and we sponsor foreign missions as well, in Uganda,” said Cristina Toadere, Bistrita APA Association president.

“By the efforts of each and every business person in Bistrita, through their donations, financial support, we were able to evangelize the whole county–every locality. Furthermore, we have proposed to establish churches where none exist. Besides being an open hand extended to someone, we also want to develop relations between us as business people,” added John Sighiartau, General Director of Philadelphia Group Bistrita-Nasaud.

One of the most important projects of the APA association in Bistrita is Logos High School which is supported by Holy Trinity Church in the same locality.

“On the local level many business people have been involved in some pretty big projects. One current project which was born 4 years ago, and is still current since we are still investing in it, is Logos High School. Business people have, up to the present, invested one million Euros for the construction of a Christian school from kindergarten up to high school,” pointed out Cristina Toadere, Bistrita APA Association president.

“We thank God for every business person who has understood that they are not living just for themselves, but that we live for others. As the Bible says, ‘For none of us lives for ourselves alone.’ So, we must live for the Lord and we must live for others,” mentioned Victor Campean, Pastor of Holy Trinity Church in Bistrita.

Another initiative in the area of education is the organization of Christian camps for children.

Christian camps for children has had a great impact. We said it’s not enough to organize 3 evangelistic evenings, but we must continue to show what we can do. Parents were very open to allowing their children to come, regardless of their faith, to the Christian camps. Their children returned from the camps transformed,” added Cristina Toadere, Bistrita APA Association president.

APA Association began in 1997 at the initiative of a group of 25 firms from Bistrita.

“‘APA’ stands for “Asociatia Penticostala a Afaceristilor” (‘Pentecostal Businessperson’s Association’) and it started on the idea of “apa” (water), that which flows, is in fact that which gives life. The source of every business is God, because in the Bible we find it written that the “earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,” underlined Cristina Toadere, Bistrita APA Association president.
