Baptist Mid-Missions (BMM) began celebrating 100 years of faithful service at a gathering at the agency’s Ministry Training Center on October 15.

The 2019 World Day of Prayer marked the 99th birthday of BMM. President Vernon Rosenau and President Emeritus Dr. Gary Anderson launch the year of celebration by reviewing key moments in Baptist Mid-Missions history and revealing important dates scheduled for the year to come.

Plans for the next 12 months include:

  • A missions-emphasis on Christian college campuses during the week beginning March 30, 2020.
  • A Thank-You Sunday on April 26, during which churches will have an opportunity to view a brief video from missionaries in the field who have been dependent upon those churches for prayer and financial support.
  • On July 6 through 10, BMM will hold a Family Conference that will be “a special praise celebration for our Mission Family as we share a century’s worth of stories of how God has used BMM to advance the gospel around the world.”
  • The celebrations will culminate on October 15 next year with a Grand Banquet for special guests of the mission agency.

Baptist Mid-Missions was founded by Pastor William Haas and his wife, Genevieve, upon their return to the US after serving the Lord for several years in Africa. The Haas’ burden for Africa was to introduce the lost to Christ and to ensure that they became well-trained disciples. Within less than two years of the founding of Baptist Mid-Missions, 10 other missionaries were serving alongside the Haas family in the area now known as the Central African Republic.

BMM currently has established mission outreaches in 55 countries around the world.

The aim of the agency is contained within its name “Mid-Missions.” The “Mid” indicates the intent to go to the innermost parts of the countries where they have served. Over the years, they have been able to reach the unreached.

Psalm 96:2-4 will be the theme of the centennial celebrations.

Sing to the LORD, bless His name; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.

Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.

For the LORD [is] great and greatly to be praised; He [is] to be feared above all gods.
