China’s Two-Child Policy

China-Two-Child-Policy

China used to be on a one-child policy until 2016, when they realized the population was decreasing, due to the fact most of the population was elderly.

Per CNN, “But the low birth rate created a number of serious demographic challenges. Today, China faces a rapidly aging population and a shortage of working-age residents, causing stress on health care and social services for the elderly.”

With the two-child policy, there has been an exponential growth on the number of babies born in the past year.

Yahoo News reports, “The number of births in China has risen nearly 8 percent in the year after the government loosened its unpopular one-child policy.”

That is a growth of nearly 1 million children after 2015.

CNN explains, “A total of 17.86 million babies were born in 2016, an increase of 1.31 million over the total in 2015. The new total represents the highest annual number of newborns since 2000, according to government data.”

China is openly hostile to Christian beliefs, yet amazingly, Christianity has grown exponentially since foreigners were kicked out of China. Christian Aid is one ministry working in China.

Christian Aid Missions reports, “Today, more than half a century after all the foreign missionaries left, there are well over 100 million believers inside China.”

That means that today, unlike any other time in Chinese history, Christians can share Christ’s hope with the people of China.

Please pray for more Chinese to find the hope that is found only in Jesus and for believers to be bold in persecution.
