In November, Fidel Castro, the leader and dictator of Cuba died of an ailment.

According to The Slatest, “One of the world’s most divisive and authoritarian leaders who allegedly survived more than 600 assassination attempts and played a key role in the history of the 20th century died of natural causes, succumbing to an illness that he had been suffering for years.”

Some of the people of Cuba were mourning Fidel’s passing, while others in Florida were celebrating his passing.

The Chicago Tribune reports, “‘It’s a tragedy,’ said 22-year-old nurse Dayan Montalvo. ‘We all grew up with him. I feel really hurt by the news that we just heard.’”

President-elect Trump said some comments from the opposing side of the spectrum.

Reuters explains, “While some world leaders have sent admiring messages of condolence, Castro has been condemned by critics, including Trump, who in a weekend statement called him ‘a brutal dictator who oppressed his own people.’”

The American Bible Society has permission from the government in Cuba to print and distribute Bibles in Cuba.

The American Bible Society reports, “American Bible Society already has strong relationships with Cuban churches, Catholic and Protestant. Last year, we began the “Million Bible Mission” to bring a million Bibles to this island nation over three years. In 2014, the government allowed our church partners to import and distribute the first 60,000 Bibles.”

Please pray for the Church in Cuba, that they would be encouraged by the Bibles being delivered to them by the American Bible Society.
