Families Share Stories of Hope at Site of Beirut Blast

BEIRUT, LEBANON – Families from across Lebanon who lost loved ones in the Beirut explosion that claimed more than 200 lives in August 2020 shared stories on how the blast changed their lives forever, during a SAT-7 special program called You Are Not Alone, a year on from the disaster.

The Christian television station filmed this show on the actual site of the explosion that caused such devastation with the aim of bringing the hope of Christ from the rubble to those still traumatized by this blast.

On the one year anniversary of the devastating Beirut explosion that claimed 200 lives Christian television ministry SAT-7 aired a special edition of their You’re Not Alone show.

The program featured several inspirational stories of hope from families who survived the blast but lost loved ones. But they shared how their Christian faith helped them through their heartbreaking loss. All the guests were given white balloons to write prayers on and let them fly as a message of peace, hope, and prayer for Lebanon and Beirut.

May Melki, whose first choice was to sit and play the piano on returning to her damaged home, wrote on her balloon:

“I ask the Lord to help them overcome the great wounds in their hearts, lives, health, and children. Then, a prayer of hope, love, reconciliation, and forgiveness.”

And as the people of Lebanon still face the pain of this disaster SAT 7 will continue to meet the spiritual and practical needs of this hurting nation.
