Field Hospital Will Care for COVID-19 Patients in Western North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — Samaritan’s Purse is expected to receive their first patients later this week at their Emergency Field Hospital in Lenoir, North Carolina, in response to rising COVID-19 cases in the region.

The 30-bed emergency unit will help support regional medical centers as they reach capacity due to rising coronavirus hospitalizations.

Edward Graham, Samaritan’s Purse:

Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir, North Carolina, and where Samaritan’s Purse is located in Boone, North Carolina, it’s about 30 minutes away. Like the rest of the country and the world, COVID-19 has just ravaged the medical health care systems. And UNC Health has reached out to Samaritan’s Purse about partnering right here and setting up one of our field hospitals.

And that’s what we’re doing. We’ve got incredible volunteers and staff right now setting up this hospital, and we hope to shortly be serving those in this area, in the western North Carolina, that have been stricken with this virus. So we appreciate your support and your prayers most of all.

We ask that you pray specifically for the safety of our staff. We have medical team members that have been fighting this virus all over the world and all over the United States here. But we’re just excited to be serving in the Name of Jesus Christ with quality health care. Thank you.
