Gospel for Asia Staff Takes Time to Refresh Their Passion

The home staff of Gospel for Asia recently took an entire Friday off work. The students at the School of Discipleship and the members of the Mission Support Team joined with them to spend the day reflecting on the shared passion that has brought them to GFA. They all took a breather from their intense daily grind to refresh their passion through praise, worship, and fellowship.

Passion: A strong desire or devotion to some activity, object, or concern.
Routine: The daily grind that is most likely to dim the flame of passion.

WILLS POINT, TEXAS – The home staff of Gospel for Asia (GFA) recently took an entire Friday off work to refresh their passion for prayer, fellowship and sharing Good News in Asia. The students at the School of Discipleship and the members of the Mission Support Team joined together to spend the day reflecting on the shared passion that has brought them to Gospel for Asia (GFA). They all took a breather from their intense daily work routines to refresh their passion through praise, worship, and fellowship.

It was a day of fanning the burning flame of the entire team’s desire to serve the Lord solely because of His mercy, grace, and compassion and to share the love of Jesus with the millions of people in South Asia who have never heard of God’s love for them.

Pastor David Cartwright

A inspiring message of encouragement from Pastor David Cartwright of Russell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wills Point prepared hearts for the balance of the day.

Prayer also played a major part in the day. Small groups met at multiple locations around the Gospel for Asia (GFA) campus to intercede.

Time was spent praying for the people in South Asia, the National Missionaries, pastors, churches, Sisters of Compassion, Bridge of Hope centers, and for the people and communities they labor tirelessly to reach for Jesus.

Prayer was also a time for each individual to spend intimate time with our Creator and Lord, drawing closer to Him, knowing that the Bible promises that when we do, He will draw closer to us.

Then there was the fellowship. The opportunity to interact outside of the daily routine with “the other fellows in our ship.” There was worship music and fun activities that allowed staff, MST, and students to enjoy each other’s presence outside of the daily grind. There was even a special photographic scavenger hunt.

Teams were given a list of items to photograph with their team in the image. (Imagine getting a photo of all your team members with a live rabbit, or everyone stuffed in a car, or near a tractor trailer.)

It was the kind of day we all need every once in a while. The kind where, at the end of the day, you’re yearning for some more. So that’s exactly what the Gospel for Asia (GFA) folks did. They finished the day making S’mores, refreshed, renewed, and filled with passion for serving the Lord and spreading the Good News throughout the world.
