PORTLAND, Oregon – “One evangelist can only reach so far. One organization can only do so much. By working together, we multiply our efforts for Jesus Christ.”
These words are a driving force behind the Next Generation Alliance (NGA) and its parent organization, the Luis Palau Association. The NGA was born in May 1998 as an extension of Luis Palau’s ministry to mentor and equip members to work together to reach as many people as possible for Jesus Christ based on the Palau team’s successful model of evangelism.
The Next Generation Alliance provides opportunities for evangelists, other believers, and ministries to work together for the greater good of bringing the lost to our Great God through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Highpoint Church in Naperville, Illinois, will help NGA celebrate its 20th year of successful ministry by hosting a Connect Conference on June 25th at Amplify. The Connect Conference is free and provides a unique opportunity for evangelists “to be encouraged and challenged by fellow Christians who share a heart for world evangelism.”
The conference will feature practical training, including how to build an effective prayer network for evangelism outreach, how to mobilize a church to evangelize, and how to raise funds.
“One Message, Many Expressions: has been the motto of the NGA from its earliest days as an assembling of just a few evangelists in the United States to what is now “a global network of nearly 700 members who are committed to spreading the Gospel around the world.”
Reports from 122 respondents of the 680-member organization indicated a total of 3.2 million first-time decisions for Christ and 1.6 million rededications in 2017. More than 100,000 churches partnered with NGA during 2017 and nearly 888,000 individuals participated in evangelism training.
Vic Murphy, an extreme sports athlete NGA partners commented that “There’s never been a time like this with so much opportunity. With communication and travel and the Internet, we have so many avenues to proclaim the Gospel in the world. Looking back and seeing what we’ve been able to accomplish, I believe it’s only the beginning of what God is going to do through NGA in the future.”
Prior to the Napierville Connect Conference, NGA conferences will convene in Grand Rapids, MI; Brevard County, FL; Sao Paulo, Brazil; and Gaylord, MI. During the remainder of 2018, NGA will host conferences in Eugene, OR; Muskegon, MI; Bogota, Columbia; Spring Arbor, MI; Grand Rapids, MI; Dallas, TX; and Argentina.
Although it is unlikely that Luis Palau will be unable to attend this year’s conferences in person due to health reasons, he may be able to address via live video conferencing. Palau was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer in March. The latest report from Kevin Palau is that his father’s tumors had shrunk by one-third after his first round of chemotherapy and no new tumors were observed.
Pray for Brother Palau as he continues another round of chemotherapy and for the continued empowerment of the Next Generation Alliance.
