UKRAINE — Mercy Projects has been coordinating week-long Bible Winter Camps in Ukraine for several years now, but with Covid-19 restrictions their team was able to creatively adapt with a packed weekend of activities, worship and Bible teaching. Mercy Projects team member Zhenya explains they were so grateful to God for this unique opportunity to impact so many young lives in such a short space of time.
Despite the pandemic and lockdown restrictions across Ukraine Christian charity Mercy Projects was able to provide a scaled down version of their usual Christmas winter camp at a retreat centre near Kiev for vulnerable young people who are part of their sponsorship program.
Mixed with a variety of fun activities as well as worship and Bible classes this mini camp provided an opportunity for so many young people to come closer to God after an extremely challenging time in the country.
Mercy Projects Team Member Zhenya explains more:
Every winter Mercy Projects Ukraine is doing winter camps. We decided this year not to miss this camp and though we couldn’t do the whole one week camp, we did winter weekend. We gathered our children or teenagers for a day and a half. And thank God that we had this possibility. And they are having fun. Lots of games, a lot of outside activities, worship nights. Everything that we could fit in one day. So we are very thankful and kids are also very thankful to Mercy Projects and to God.
