CityServe Expansion in Arizona with Grand Canyon University Hub to Help People in Need

Grand Canyon University and CityServe launched the first CityServe HUB in Arizona at Grand Canyon University campus to help people in need.

ARIZONA — Grand Canyon University and CityServe are announcing the launch of the first CityServe HUB in Arizona at Grand Canyon University campus to help people in need.

A 35,000-square-foot warehouse on campus will function as the new GCU HUB—powered mostly by volunteers—to receive, sort and distribute goods in-kind (GIK), such as food, apparel, furniture and household items, to PODs (point of distribution). A POD is a local church or faith-based organization trained by and in covenant with CityServe to receive resources from its assigned HUB and meet the needs of its community with tangible items and compassion. GCU has currently identified 40 PODs and plans to extend its reach across the state of Arizona.

CityServe and GCU initially began serving the community together through the United States Department of Agriculture Farmers to Families Food Box program, beginning in December 2020. USDA contractor Shamrock Farms supplied GCU with more than 18,000 food boxes to feed approximately 72,000 food insecure individuals in Phoenix.
