Medical Interventions in Ukraine

RZESZOW, POLAND — Medical equipment and supplies for a Samaritan’s Purse Emergency Field Hospital in Lviv, Ukraine, were airlifted via three flights (two aboard our DC-8 cargo jet) from North Carolina to Poland on March 4, 8, and 10.

All materials have been unloaded, and most have been transported to Ukraine. The field hospital is being set up and soon should be ready to receive patients. Work is going well.

Samaritan’s Purse is now operating a 24-hour medical stabilization point, or clinic, outside a train station in Lviv. Many desperate people fleeing the fighting need medical attention of all kinds.

Edward GrahamSamaritan’s Purse:

I’ve been in Ukraine, where Samaritan’s Purse has been setting up a field hospital to help with the fighting that’s been happening there. There’s a lot of great need, and we’re going to do more. But thankfully, what you see right here, our DC-8 cargo plane has just landed, and we’re beginning offload of the needed materials to finish the setup of our hospital. But also, we’re going to start an outpatient clinic there at the railway station in Lviv.

These are people coming out of the hundreds of thousands each day, desperate to flee the fighting. There’s great need. Women are giving birth to children on the train. There’s dehydration. It’s freezing. There’s cold weather injuries. They need help now; and Samaritan’s Purse is responding, and responding quickly. We’re fortunate to have assets like this to let us get anywhere in the world within hours to set up these hospitals. But we can’t do without you.

We need your prayers. We need your support. Pray for the safety of our team on the ground. But also pray for peace in Ukraine, a peace that only Jesus Christ can bring about. We do this because we love our neighbors in the ditch, and this is what God has commanded us to do. So thank you.
