Operation Christmas Child Brings Joy to Children in Cambodia

CAMBODIA – Samaritan’s Purse CEO and President Franklin Graham joined local church leaders in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with boys and girls while delivering gift-filled shoeboxes to them at a recent Operation Christmas Child outreach event in Cambodia’s capital.

Eight-year-old Votey received a shoebox, making her one of more than 1 million children in Cambodia to receive such a gift since 2000. She said, “The box makes me feel loved by God.”

Votey:

“My name is Votey. I’m eight years old. I like pink color. When I grow up, I want to be teacher. This is my home. Today is Christmas Day. I sang a song. Then I got a gift, and then I’m happy.”

Franklin Graham, President & CEO, Samaritan’s Purse:

“These gifts come from people that love you, and they want you to know Jesus Christ. We want the children of the world to know what Christmas is all about, that God gave His Son, Jesus Christ, for the sins of this world, and it’s an incredible gift. And so you think, “Well, Franklin, does it really mean that much?” It means everything in the world.”

Votey’s Father:

“I was so happy, and I rejoiced when my child came back with the beautiful gifts that she loves. She is smiling so much. On behalf of her mother and me, thank you very much for the many gifts and for taking my daughter to see… to see the Christmas. I would like to express my profound gratitude to you.”

Votey:

“The box makes me feel good and happy. The box makes me feel loved by God. Thank you for all of you.”

Votey’s Father:

“This village is a needy community because it is a slum, so I would like to say thank you for visiting me and my family. May God bless you with peace and prosperity forever.”
