Homeowners in Kentucky praise God for volunteers who helped them recover personal belongings after tornadoes swept through their homes.

BOWLING GREEN, KY – Homeowners in Bowling Green, Kentucky, praise God for the Samaritan’s Purse volunteers who helped them recover personal belongings after tornadoes swept through the area and destroyed their houses.

David GiffordPastor, Calvary Baptist Church:

We had tornadoes that came through, brought devastation like we’ve never ever seen. My daughter lived real close to the path of the storm, not knowing what the next few moments held for her life.

Sandra FulkersonHomeowner:

The tornado just came through here. My brother was asleep, and woke up just in time to have his mattress flipped over on top of him. It did destroy the complete house and everything around it, the building and all. There’s no doubt God was with him, or he wouldn’t be with us today.

David:

Pulled up to the parking lot at 7:00 AM this morning, and saw cars from more states than I could count. That is having a tremendous impact on people who have been displaced, people who have lost everything, that someone’s willing to drive, come on their own expenses, just to come and help them, and I think that that’s an incredible testimony for the body of Christ.

Sandra:

They have recovered a lot of pictures, just a lot of keepsakes. I’ve been digging since it happened a week ago. There’s still a lot of stuff that I had missed that they have drug out, and I know that God is in this.

Tonya RobinsonVolunteer:

I think a lot of people have forgotten about loving your neighbor as yourself, and sometimes it takes something like this to bring us all back and make us realize what we really need to be doing.

Male Volunteer:

Jesus came and He didn’t promise us that we wouldn’t have trouble. What He promised us is there’d be people like this who come and help you when there is trouble. All we came to do today was to bless you and turn your attention back to God.

David:

If we love the Lord and if we love what He loves, we’re going to love to serve, and we’re going to realize that loving our neighbor is just an outflow of our relationship with the Lord; and to hug on them like the Lord has hugged on us and served us, it should come natural for every believer that everybody in their path is someone that is a target for the potential love of God.

Sandra:

Praise God, because y’all are truly sent from God, and I know that, and I know we have an awesome God. There’s no way I can express how much this has meant to us, but we love you all and appreciate you dearly.
