Samaritan’s Purse is helping to create healthy homes in Kenya and in over 25 other countries by providing BioSand water filters for families who don’t have access to clean drinking water. Pastor Paul serves as a Samaritan’s Purse volunteer helping countless families gain access to clean water.

Pastor Paul is a trained Healthy Home volunteer with Samaritan’s Purse in Kenya.

He teaches his community about safe water and hygiene. He was one of the first adopters
of the BioSand Water Filter.

Pastor Paul:

Every day my family, before we wake up in the morning, we start with prayer. Normally pray, “God, thank you.” And when we pray, we are not forgetting Samaritan’s Purse for helping us. We are thanking God.

In the beginning, we were having very big challenges, the challenges of diseases. The children would miss school every day. Now we are living as a healthy home because we are now using water from the BioSand Filter. So at first we were using water from the river, which was raw. My wife, she is moving to the river, to fetch water and carry it. She is now the one who is pouring water into the BioSand Filter.

Since 1998, Samaritan’s Purse has installed over 285,000 BioSand Filters in over 25 countries.

And now our health is improving every day. We are now feeling okay because we are using water from the BioSand Filter. That is our great joy. Like Paul in the Bible says, “Be an example of good things.” So we are now leading people as examples. I give someone a certificate when they have a BioSand Filter which is working, drinking water that has been filtered, and also a hang-wire, a dishrack, a rubbish pit and a washing sanitation facility.

So, that is now showing that he or she’s needs has been satisfied. When somebody receives a certificate of cleanliness and health, everybody was laughing and enjoying. They were very, very, very happy. It’s been a blessing for us in Kenya and in our community now. I thank them, and I say may the Lord bless them, all of Samaritan’s Purse, those who have remembered us. We are saying we are grateful, and we are saying thank you and may the Lord bless you.

1.7 million people have benefited from the BioSand Water Filter since 1998.

Join us to end thirst and illness.
