Spiritual and Physical Support for Venezuelan Women and Children

COLOMBIA — Samaritan’s Purse is helping to provide physical and spiritual support for Venezuelan women and their children who are fleeing to Colombia to escape economic hardship in their native country.

José Rodríguez, Samaritan’s Purse:

Venezuelan people are going through one of the most dramatic socioeconomic crises in the history of the world. Many Venezuelans have decided to leave their country. Some of the most affected people are women and their children. They lack resources to meet their basic needs, and they are exposed to many dangers along the way. Samaritan’s Purse is partnering with several NGOs in Cucuta and Norte de Santander to help heal the hearts of these women and to share the Gospel of our Lord Jesus.

We are also handing out maternal kits which contain diapers, soap, shampoo, creams, and many other things that will help them meet their physical needs. And it’s beautiful to see their faces when their hope is renewed. When they understand that they are not alone and that God is a father for their children, it changes their lives. We hope that these items along with the spiritual care will not only meet their physical needs, but bring them closer to Jesus and have an eternal impact on their lives.

Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. The organization serves the Church worldwide to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
