Bringing Relief After Metro Detroit Floods

Samaritan’s Purse is in Metro Detroit bringing relief to devastated homeowners after rain drenched the area causing massive flooding

DETROIT, MI – Samaritan’s Purse is in Metro Detroit helping devastated homeowners after seven inches of rain drenched the area late last month and caused massive flooding. Volunteers are urgently needed to assist in the cleanup effort and share the love of Christ with those affected by the storm.

Matt Campbell, Samaritan’s Purse Disaster Relief:

Hi, I’m Matt Campbell with Samaritan’s Purse Disaster Relief, and we’re here responding to the flood damage in the Detroit metro area. At the end of June, they received up to seven inches of rain over a short time frame, which caused mass flooding. That water rose into basements up to four feet in some of these homes. But not only storm water, but it also has septic water in it as well, causing a lot of not only mold issues, but also sanitation issues.

Samaritan’s Purse is here removing sheetrock, taking out wood paneling, removing carpet. And also, we’re going to be sanitizing with shockwave treatment to help minimize mold growth and help sanitize so bacteria won’t be an issue for that homeowner in the future. The needs here are vast, and they continue to grow. What we really need is your all’s prayers and support. And as the volunteers go out, we encourage you to come out and serve alongside of us as we show them how much we love them and how much Christ loves them.

So please be in prayer as we go out and serve this community in the coming weeks.
