WASHINGTON — Renowned pastor, author, and evangelist Greg Laurie was this year’s esteemed recipient of the Museum of the Bible’s Narrative Pillar Award. The prestigious Pillar Award was conferred to individuals recognized for their unrelenting commitment to engage the world with Biblical truths during the Museum of the Bible’s 2023 Gala & Experience.
The Museum of the Bible is built upon three pillars – history, narrative, and impact. Through Laurie’s sermons, books, founding of the Harvest crusades, and popular Netflix film ‘Jesus Revolution’, he has brought the biblical narrative to life for countless individuals through various cultural mediums.
“Honorees are selected by a committee of Museum of the Bible Leadership and representatives of the Board of Directors based on their positive global influences through their talent, ideas, and platforms,” the Museum of the Bible said in a release.
Upon receiving the award Laurie shared his gratitude, “I am deeply honored to receive this year’s Narrative Pillar Award. We want to reach unexpected people in unexpected places with an unexpected message. When you have a film on Netflix, and it’s playing on Delta Airlines such as ‘Jesus Revolution’ has been playing on, or on other platforms like Apple and Amazon, you reach people that would not necessarily go to church.”
He added, “Jesus did not say the whole world should go to church, but He did say the church should go to the whole world, so we’re always looking for creative ways to get to people. A lot of times as Christians, we want to isolate from culture, but in reality, we need to permeate and infiltrate culture with the message of the Gospel.”
Laurie was recognized alongside Lee Strobel and Kay Arthur. Grammy award winner CeCe Winans made a special appearance at the award gala. Her performance added an extra layer of significance to the evening’s celebration and highlighted the dedication the honored award recipients have shown to sharing the transformative truths of the Bible.
