After His Mentor Rev. Billy Graham’s Passing, the June 10th Event Holds Special Significance for Laurie, Harvest America Team

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — On June 10, 2018, Harvest America will return to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX where just two years ago the ministry hosted what became the largest one-day evangelistic event in American history. Pastor Greg Laurie and the Harvest America team hope this year will be even larger.

Harvest America 2018 holds a special significance for Pastor Greg Laurie, who was mentored by Rev. Graham and sat on the board of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association for the last 25 years.

“So much of what we do and what we’ve done for the last nearly 30 years, is either directly or indirectly influenced by what Billy did,” said Laurie. “He always encouraged me personally, once telling me he thought I should go into evangelism full-time. I responded, ‘Billy, when you tell me what I ought to do it’s like Moses speaking! But I feel led to Pastor and preach the Gospel!’ Billy smiled and agreed. Once, after having lunch in his home I asked Billy what an older version of himself would say to a younger version about preaching, after all his years of experience in bringing the Gospel in stadiums around the world. His response was, ‘I would preach more on the cross and blood of Christ. That’s where the power is!’ I never forgot that. That is exactly what I intend to do.”

When asked about Greg Laurie, Billy Graham replied, “Greg Laurie is not only a personal friend, but is one of the great communicators of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our generation. They have written him up to be the evangelist of the future and he is. I highly recommend him.”

Harvest America is an international evangelistic event that has been attended live and via simulcast by over 7.6 million people and accounted for over 66,000 recorded professions of faith to date. Each event includes musical performances by top Christian artists along with a straightforward Gospel presentation by Pastor Greg Laurie. Simultaneously, and perhaps most importantly, the events include the coordination of hundreds of churches, homes, theaters and local venues which live stream the event to thousands more across the country.

“There’s been a lot of talk about who will take over Billy Graham’s mantle,” continued Laurie. “The truth is there will never be another Billy Graham. He will always be a singular figure and no one person could fill his shoes. But we must carry on the torch he carried to his generation, the torch of what I call ‘Proclamation Evangelism!’ Our prayer is that a whole new movement of churches would see Harvest America as an opportunity to carry the torch of the Gospel forward in their own backyard and join the thousands of churches already participating in the event. Just imagine your congregation’s friends and family members giving their lives to Jesus because of your decision to host this event.”

Churches and small groups can sign up to host a Harvest America event here.

Harvest America 2018 is on June 10, 2018 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX and will include music by Switchfoot, Crowder, Phil Wickham and America’s worship leader, Chris Tomlin.

Admission to Harvest America is free.
