‘Somebody Cares’ Ministers After Funeral of Corporal Galloway in Texas

Somebody Cares continues to assist and support first responders through the work of their chapters and affiliates.

HARRIS COUNTY, TX — As police officers across America face ever-increasing amounts of stress from the current cultural climate, Somebody Cares continues to assist and support first responders through the work of their chapters and affiliates.

On Tuesday, February 1, Somebody Cares Houston/America and their partner organizations cooked for and served 500 law enforcement officers during a reception following the funeral of Deputy Constable/Corporal Charles Galloway from Harris County Constable’s Precinct 5, who was shot and killed during a traffic stop.

A Christian charity came alongside first responders in Harris County, Texas earlier this month as they remembered the life of Deputy Constable/Corporal Charles Galloway who was shot and killed in the line of duty.

Following the funeral the Somebody Cares team and their partner organizations cooked for and served 500 law enforcement officers.

Mark Roye from Somebody Cares explains more about the importance of their ministry at times like this:

Mark RoyeSomebody Cares:

Our whole heart was to say a thank you to our police officers who are really being attacked. It seems like almost daily in some form or fashion. Not only them but also fireman. To where we can just be a tangible expression of the love of God to hurting communities.

The charity’s president Doug Stringer reflected with Mark on the day’s events:

Doug StringerSomebody Cares:

We were there to honor the family and one of the things that really moved me the most was the honor guard time. They had a riderless horse with Corporal Galloway’s hat going by. And just to see all the law enforcement officers from across the city and all parts of the country who came. It just shows the camaraderie and just the depth of the trauma that effects those who serve in communities every day.

And the police officers of Harris County shared their gratitude with Somebody Cares for standing with them on this very difficult day.
