FOREST, Va. — Since mid-April, Nicaragua has been embroiled in a civil conflict that has left hundreds dead, thousands wounded and countless missing. But the unrest hasn’t stopped World Help from launching relief efforts to help the people of Nicaragua.
Working with local partners, the Christian humanitarian organization aims to provide food supplies and medical aid to Nicaraguans. The strife has left many families with little food and no means to afford medical treatment.
“Our partners have told us the situation is so dire that they’ve been forced to mix water and sugar to feed the children who come to their feeding centers,” said Vernon Brewer, founder and CEO of World Help. “So it’s not an exaggeration when we say people are facing a serious food shortage crisis.”
“Parents are terrified for their children’s safety. They don’t know how much longer they can survive without food or medical supplies,” he continued. “They’re worried they are running out of time. This is not a time for us to back away, but instead to work even harder to bring relief and hope to families in need.”
World Help, which specializes in rushing emergency supplies to conflict zones, is raising funds to continue providing relief to Nicaragua. For every $25 raised, World Help can provide two weeks’ worth of emergency food and medical aid for one person.
