One Mission

One Mission fulfills a unique role in introducing people to Christ and partnering with other believers to equip, and mobilize the saints for His service.

GREENWOOD, IN – The goal of One Mission Society is “to see the Gospel of Jesus Christ spread throughout the world, with the greatest number of disciples made, and to see God glorified in all that [they] do.” To accomplish that one mission, they have found “the most effective way to share Christ is by training a nation’s people to lead and multiply their churches.”

Established in 1901 in a storefront in Japan, One Mission Society was originally known as the Oriental Missionary Society and, later, as OMS International.

The interdenominational society is focused entirely on reaching as many people in as many countries as possible with the Gospel using a four-fold approach.

  1. Intentional Evangelism
  2. Planting Churches
  3. Training Leaders
  4. Forming Strategic Partnerships

Their primary purpose and highest priority are always intentionally sharing the Gospel and leading people to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, then disciple them so that they may tell and disciple others.

By working in conjunction with other evangelical churches and organizations around the world, One Mission is able to demonstrate the unity that we share in the faith in the Holy Spirit. The society does not seek to build a structured global organization, but to win souls, to disciple new believers, to equip them to serve the Lord and to plant churches.

To that end, One Mission is working with more than 180 organizations and more than 14,000 indigenous coworkers in over 75 countries around the world.

On average, One Mission has been able to plant more than 6,000 new churches every year. In 2018 alone, nearly 700,000 people began following the Lord through the outreach of One Mission and its partners. Every 31 seconds, someone, somewhere in the world comes to Christ as a result of the society’s ministry.

The church multiplication arm of OM, Every Community for Christ, trains leaders to apply defined principles in a four-stage development of Bible-believing local churches, including pioneer evangelism, church planting, church multiplication, and saturation church planting. This work is often accomplished via training programs in established evangelical churches as a catalyst for developing a passion and a plan for effective outreach.

Hope61 is One Mission’s contribution to help to eliminate human trafficking which is currently the second largest illegal business in the world. The name Hope61 is derived from Isaiah 61:1.

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.”

Hope61 is intended to equip and mobilize churches and church leaders around the world to identify, rescue, and evangelize victims of sex trafficking, child labor and military conscription, and forced labor trafficking,

Isaiah 61:1 seems to clearly say that believers need to reach out to people who are trapped by or vulnerable to the heartbreak of human trafficking.

One Mission fulfills a unique role in introducing people around the world to Christ and partnering with other believers to evangelize, equip, and mobilize the saints for His service.
