Samaritan’s Purse has airlifted tents to Turkey to provide shelter for displaced families who lost their homes in the recent earthquake.

ANTAKYA, TURKEY — Samaritan’s Purse has airlifted hundreds of tents to Turkey to provide shelter for displaced families who lost their homes in the recent earthquake. They also continue to provide world-class medical treatment to the sick and injured in their Emergency Field Hospital.

People are still in need here in Turkey. Here in Adana today Samaritan’s Purse ship relief supplies that we’re going to be getting out right away.

Demokan KileciChairmain, First Hope Association:

You’ve seen the cities. There’s just demolished. It’s like atomic bomb. It’s just everything is destroyed.

Nick BechertSamaritan’s Purse:

Families lost their their place to stay. So the need right now with winter still being here is how can we get them into shelters as quickly as possible?

So Samaritan’s Purse did amazing job and we have the tents coming in with old betting items and whatever their families will need.

Nick:

This is going to be part of putting families who lost their housing during the earthquake and finding a safe place for them to stay. In addition to the shelter kits, We have a resupply for all the Pharmaceuticals and supplies that we’re using at the hospital. For the first week that the field hospital has been operational. They were still pulling people out of the rubble. So immediate survivors, they’ve been treated. They’ve also been treating wounds of people that were pulled out of rubble earlier on and need those wounds taken care of cleaned out so that their infections don’t grow. In order to keep that operation going we have to build a logistical pipeline. So today we landed this Cargo in order to to get it off the plane and immediately onto trucks to our hospital in Antakya.

We had support here today at the US Air Base the US Air Force helped out as well as our Turkish partners and the Turkish disaster relief agency has been coordinating with us and helping us find places where we can set up these shelters in order to serve families.

Keep the people of turkey in your prayers and our teams here is we’re working to love them. They’ve been through a lot and we’re here to help them in Jesus name.
