GFA World is Providing Free Health Care in Remote Areas of Asia

GFA-supported medical ministry is helping thousands in South Asia who are in need of medical attention, while displaying the love of Christ.

WILLS POINT, TX – GFA World (Gospel for Asia) founded by K.P. Yohannan, has been the model for numerous charities like GFA World Canada, to help the poor and deprived worldwide. Gospel for Asia (GFA)-supported medical ministry is helping thousands who are in need of medical attention, all the while displaying the love of Christ.

Medical camps, a major aspect of GFA’s supported medical ministry, bring skilled doctors, medical staff, medication and health training to areas where people rarely have the chance to see a doctor. These camps may be organized in Bridge of Hope centers, remote villages, crowded slums—any place there is need and opportunity. One camp typically serves anywhere from 200 to 1,000 children and adults. Local medical personnel are invited to serve at the camp, providing free pediatric and general health care, and eye checkups.

In the most remote regions of South Asia, poverty is a major problem. Families work on small plots of land where they grow barely enough food to live on. This makes it very difficult for them to afford the medication and medical care they need to remain healthy.

KapilaPatient:

For the past six to seven years, I have suffered from severe headaches and weakness throughout the day. I would fill lethargic, and I was unable to work for long hours and at night when I would lie down my legs with ache, with pain.

When I became seriously ill, I was unable to work at all. I would have to ask my daughter for help with all the house chores. I felt sad because I’m only 33. I should be able to take care of my family.

Dr. BaijinathPastor & Medical Professional:

When someone is sick or injured, their only hope to receive treatment is to carries them to a medical center. Unfortunately the nearest medical facility is often in a town five to six hours away. The Lord has placed a burden on my heart to go to communities that lack medical experts or facilities. It brings me joy to help serve these people.

Pastor RaiLocal Pastor:

Through medical camps like this one, we were able to serve our community by providing things like free exams, medication and treatments.

Pastor Cabot Regional Field Leader:

When people come to our medical camps, we not only care for their physical needs, but also provide emotional support.

Kapila:

The doctors at the medical camp are very kind. They covered and even rubbed my feet as I received my I.V. treatment. I felt much better after receiving my treatment at the medical camp, even as I walked home yesterday. I felt no pain.

Pastor Cabot:

We want people to know that here not only to serve the church, but the entire community.
