WILLS POINT, TX — Labor Day has been celebrated by Americans on the first Monday in September since 1894. Labor Day has become the unofficial last day of summer. Picnics, hot dogs, parades, and fireworks. Only a few continue to observe the day in recognition of the rights of laborers and to remember those who labored to build this great nation.

Millions of men, women, and children around the world are entrapped in bonded labor.

Workers in Bonded Labor

Millions of men, women, and children around the world are entrapped in bonded labor. Abject poverty has made them vulnerable to schemes that promise a job and an opportunity to work themselves out of debt and provide for their families.

Young children are lured into cotton fields, tobacco farms, brick kilns, factories, and ore mines. They are exposed to dangerous, life-threatening conditions. They are slaves to amoral schemes that, in fact, ensure cheap labor for the business owners but offer little reward and no escape.

Praying for the Workers

Gospel for Asia called for Christians to set aside time throughout the September 2nd Labor Day weekend 2019, to remember and pray for laborers around the world who are disheartened and are held in bondage to a life of misery.
