Russia took the Ukraine to court, because it owes Russia $3 billion. A U.K. Court made the final ruling and commanded Ukraine to pay back its $3 billion debt.

Per Forbes, “As the world focuses on the ‘divorce’ between the U.K. and E.U., another divorce court hearing for two other former partners was handed down today in London. In Ukraine vs. Russia on Wednesday, a U.K. court said Kiev still owes the Russians a cool $3 billion.”

Not only does Russia want $3 billion from the Ukraine. It also wants to have some form of control over Ukraine. The military has been building up troops among the border of Ukraine and is in the process of creating four new divisions.

EurasiaNet reports, “Russia has not relinquished its goal of maintaining some form of control over Ukraine – a central component of its expansionist geopolitical strategy in Eurasia – and has clearly kept open the option of doing so by military means. To that end, Russia has been building up its armed forces along the Ukrainian border, and is in the process of establishing four new divisions: the 150th Motorized Rifle Division in the Rostov region, the 10th Armored Division and the 3rd Mechanized Division in the Voronezh region, and the 144th Motorized Rifle Division near Smolensk. They will be headquartered 50, 45, and 255 kilometers from the border, respectively.”

Ukraine went to court in the UK before Judge William Blare. He refused to hold a trial regarding the military action taking place in East Ukraine against Ukraine.

Bloomberg states, “The judge refused Ukraine’s request to hold a trial in the case and said he would like to distinguish between the law in the case and the ‘troubling’ political and military background such as the Russian annexation of Crimea and its backing for separatists in eastern Ukraine.”

The government of Ukraine is only three years old and Russia has been holding the debt they owe over their heads.

Forbes explains, “Moscow has been using that $3 billion like a guillotine over the head of Ukraine, winning small victories here and there in its fight against the three year old government.” Mission Network News tells of Slavic Gospel Association’s (SGA) work to share Christ’s hope with the people of Ukraine in the midst of the war.

Mission Network News states, “Churches in the area, with the help provided through SGA’s Crisis Evangelism fund, have been able to provide bread to quench the physical hunger Ukraine’s people are feeling, as well as providing copies of the New Testament to quench their spiritual thirst.”

Pray for an end to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Pray for SGA’s work to bring Christ’s hope to the people of Ukraine. Pray for many to come to know Christ’s hope.
