VIETNAM — A series of deadly tropical storms in rapid succession has caused catastrophic damage and the worst flooding that parts of Southeast Asia have endured in more than four decades.
Floodwaters, fallen trees, and debris have left entire villages inaccessible. Hundreds of thousands of homes across the region are damaged or destroyed. Decimated crops have left farmers without any income source.
Samaritan’s Purse is working in the Philippines, Vietnam, and Cambodia to provide critical relief supplies in the wake of this historic flooding season.
Tran Thi Huong Xuan with Samaritan’s Purse in Vietnam brings this update on their relief efforts there.
Tran Thi Huong Xuan, Samaritan’s Purse:
I’m Tran Thi Huong Xuan. I’m the finance coordinator for Samaritan’s Purse Vietnam. I am from central Vietnam. Every year, my family and community experience the usual storms and floods. After the storms, we had to start our lives all over again.
I remember how hard it was for my family financially each time a storm passed through. Any help we could get from anyone was a relief to us physically and emotionally.
When these packages are distributed to people, I hope that these supplies will help them recover from the damage caused by the floods. I hope that they will feel the love of Jesus. Thank you for joining us to help people in central Vietnam. Thank you for your support and prayers.
