NASHVILLE, TN — With an ex-boyfriend who is taking her money, a boss threatening to fire her, and a landlord who won’t fix her apartment, Amanda’s life may not be ideal, but she’s fine – she’s got things under control. That is, until her estranged father comes back into her life, diagnosed with a fatal liver disease. Amanda discovers she’s a donor match and must make a choice: should she save her father who abused her or walk away and let him die? This is the story of the movie ‘Damaged Goods,’ co-directed by Christian Hollywood star Nancy Stafford — she explains her hopes that this movie will help many abused women move forward in their lives:
A Christian Hollywood actress is using the power of the big screen to inspire victims of abuse to overcome their past hurts. Nancy Stafford has co-directed the movie Damaged Goods, which tells the story of a young lady who was sexually abused as a child but begins to take positive redemptive steps to move forward in her life.
I think there are a lot more people who have struggled with that kind of sexual trauma that have buried it deep or feel like they are beyond repair. They are damaged goods forever and they label themselves as such. And I think that it’s going to give them a sense that if this girl in her life that is such a mess can actually have the courage to take steps forward and try to find out who this God is and can He redeem me?
And Stafford is partnering with Christian broadcast network SAT 7 to translate the film into Arabic to help women throughout the Middle East.
