COLOMBIA — Samaritan’s Purse is serving some of the millions of Venezuelans living in Colombia through mobile medical units, which provide care for pregnant women, family medical care, and safety education for vulnerable populations.
Tom Ovington – Samaritan’s Purse:
What we have found here in Colombia is that there are literally two million Venezuelans that are living here.
Ana Perez – Samaritan’s Purse:
We see the needs of migrants daily. They feel alone and forsaken.
Adriana Iglesias – Samaritan’s Purse:
It is not easy to go to a country where you do not know anyone. They have pain, frustration, loneliness, the weight of sickness. So there is great need here.
Tom:
Here in Samaritan’s Purse Colombia, we have mobile medical teams that will go to communities, will go to neighborhoods, will take doctors and nurses and medicine, and Venezuelan ladies who are pregnant can cross the border, receive their prenatal care, and their postnatal care as well. At the same time, we share the love of Jesus with them.
Elimar Ojeda – Beneficiary:
There are many people who have greater needs than others, and they don’t have resources. Samaritan’s Purse treaded me well. They took good care of my son, and they gave me medication.
Tom:
At the same time, we have a mobile unit that goes to neighborhoods where there’s predominance of Venezuelans living and we educate them there to give them knowledge so they can protect themselves from abuse and exploitation.
Indira Peña – Samaritan’s Purse:
Within the mobile units we are engaging various communities to provide orientation, information, and reference for the immigrant population so that they can be legal in Colombia and be able to access education, employment, and healthcare.
Carlos Alexis Sequera – Beneficiary:
Samaritan’s Purse is great because people can learn how to emigrate to another country without danger.
Adriana:
We have the opportunity to impact this community by sharing the message, presenting Christ as their Savior through everything we do.
