KYIV, UKRAINE — When Christian couple Sergei and Viktoria Didenko fostered their first child they knew God was calling them to taking in several more children into their foster home. Many of them from broken homes and some with special needs have experienced a loving Christian family based in Kyiv.

Now they are receiving ongoing support through the sponsorship program run by Christian charity Mercy Projects.

GNA reporter Peter Wooding had the opportunity to visit the Didenko family during his recent trip to Ukraine.

In the midst of the escalating war in Ukraine, a Christan foster home in Kyiv is bringing God’s peace and refuge to many children from broken backgrounds.

After obeying God’s calling to open up their home to young people many who had been abandoned by their parents Sergeiy and Viktoria Didenko now have 11 children in their home, 3 of which are their own.

Viktoria says the most important role is to raise these young people to know Godly values in their lives.

Viktoria:

Every kid in our family attends church.

Earlier this year the family received support from the Christian charity Mercy Projects as part of their sponsorship program. This included sending them on a summer Bible camp with other foster families which they say had a remarkable impact on them

Viktoria:

It was our first camp where we could be together and have good rest and everybody liked it.

And Mercy Projects continues to sponsor many more families like the Didenkos enabling children to be raised with Biblical values.
