CityServe Rushes Aid to Areas Affected by Hurricane Milton

WASHINGTON, DC Just two weeks after Hurricane Helene made landfall on Florida’s Gulf Coast, communities across the state faced another devastating storm. But once again, CityServe is ready to respond. Even before Hurricane Milton hit Siesta Key on Florida’s west coast, CityServe mobilized both of their Florida hubs to get emergency supplies to residents to help ensure their survival.

Over 3 million people in Florida are without power, and communities are still struggling to cope with the damage caused by Hurricane Helene. Late Wednesday, Hurricane Milton made landfall as a category 3 storm, bringing 120 mph winds. Fatalities have already been confirmed. In addition to Hurricane Milton, tornados also touched down across Florida.

“Right now, Florida is in desperate need of our help and prayers,” said CityServe Senior Vice President Todd Lamphere. “Facing storms of this magnitude so close to each other is an incredible challenge. I want everyone affected to know that you’re not alone. All of us at CityServe stand with you and will continue to provide relief as we recover together.”

As emergency-response officials carefully assess the destruction, CityServe has already mobilized its unique church-based network. Its distribution hubs at City of Destiny Church in Apopka and City of Hope Church in Sarasota provide emergency supplies to what it calls “the last mile of need” throughout Florida communities, including hot meals, bottled water, batteries, sanitary wipes, and disposable diapers, and other emergency supplies.

Since Hurricane Helene made landfall in September, CityServe has already delivered over 20 semi-trailer truckloads of relief supplies across a five-state region, part of a unique non-government relief effort mobilized across the southeastern United States.

Last week, former presidential advisor Ivanka Trump visited a CityServe distribution site, giving storm victims in western North Carolina a much-needed morale boost.

CityServe co-founder and CEO Dave Donaldson pledged Thursday that Hurricane Milton recovery efforts will go forth without draining resources from areas struck hard by Helene.

“Mobilizing our disaster response teams when residents are still recovering from a previous hurricane poses an extraordinary, unprecedented challenge,” Donaldson said. “Frankly, we will need all the help we can get. But the good news is our relief coalition is blessed to include incredible partners including Mercy Chefs, Love and Life, Operation Blessing, and Planet Harvest. As much as it depends on us, we will help ensure no one goes without the basic essentials they need right now.”
