COLOMBO, SRI LANKA — The Urumpirai Hope for Children Center in the Diocese of Colombo recently organized a Gift Distribution Program to provide essential school supplies to children in the community. The event aimed to equip young learners with schoolbags and stationery, ensuring they are prepared and motivated for their studies.
The program began with a warm welcome as children presented garlands and bouquets to the attending guests. The ceremony was officially inaugurated with the lighting of a traditional oil lamp, symbolizing the light of education and hope.
Village Leader of Maruthanarmadam, Mr. Nisanand, addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of education and the role of community support in nurturing the next generation. The children added vibrant energy to the event through captivating dance performances, showcasing their enthusiasm and talents, and infusing the atmosphere with joy and excitement.
Following the performances, guests distributed schoolbags and stationery to the children. Many of the young children, who previously lacked proper school supplies, expressed happiness and gratitude upon receiving these much-needed resources. This act of generosity left a positive impact on both children and parents, inspiring the children to engage more fully in their studies.
The event concluded with a heartfelt thanksgiving speech and a group photograph to capture these memorable moments.
