Sometimes it can be easy to forget the faithfulness of God.
Gospel for Asia (GFA) supports thousands of missionaries and pastors each month in Asia. Sometimes these men and women work for years in the same region before they are met with progress. Meet Barasaat, a Gospel for Asia (GFA)-sponsored Pastor who has served the same region for over 13 years.
Throughout his years of service, Pastor Barasaat has faced a variety of difficulties. But what has stayed constant throughout the years is his enduring outlook and dependence on prayer. There were long stretches of spiritual drought among the people of their village, and many times it felt like Pastor Barasaat and his wife had toiled all these years for nothing. However, as they stayed faithful, God proved his faithfulness to them,
“Two hundred angry villagers pressed in on the pastor.”
During a weekly gathering with some youth of the village, some of the villagers stormed Pastor Barasaat’s house and dragged him out:
Ten villagers rushed on Pastor Barasaat and grabbed him by the neck. They began to beat him and dragged him to an impromptu village meeting.
Two hundred angry villagers pressed in on the pastor. They hurled accusations at him. They questioned him. They harassed him. But Pastor Barasaat did not respond. He remembered how Jesus had stood silent before His accusers, and he chose to walk in his Master’s footsteps.
Two hours passed as Pastor Barasaat stood silent before the mob, while the 20 youth he had been worshiping with prayed earnestly for the pastor’s protection.
In His faithfulness, God answered. After shouting, the crowed couldn’t decide what to do with the meek pastor before them, and one by one, they left the scene.
This is just one of the many miracles that Pastor Barasaat has experienced in his years of ministry, and as he continues to serve, it will become one among the multitudes of stories that he can retell of God’s faithfulness.
But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3)
