Wills Point, Texas – GFA (Gospel for Asia) Founder, Dr. K.P. Yohannan recently expressed several powerful insights into the power of oneness in his blog post entitled “When Believers Unite in Doing God’s Will Nothing Will Be Impossible”
Acknowledging that the idea of “united we stand; divided we fall” is universal, his article suggests that Christians need to ponder how lack of unity can be one of the church’s greatest enemies.
While stories of persecution against churches of all types abound globally, division and schisms among local church members and leaders may constitute a far greater threat.
Yohannan explains that a lack of unity is not a recent phenomenon. Internal strife marked many of the New Testament churches to which the Apostle Paul sent his epistles. In fact, it was essentially the reason for many of his letters.
He explains the oneness between Jesus and the Father. In John 17, Jesus prayed that believers would be one in Him just as He is one with the Father. Earlier He told His followers “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (See John 13:35)
Yohannan unfolds the necessity of self-reflection and examination to ensure that we are not unloving toward anyone. We can accomplish nothing when we are self-centered. Together, in unity and harmony, nothing is impossible.
