LONDON, ENGLAND — Much has changed since the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) announced in mid-2020 that the Graham Tour UK with Revd Franklin Graham would be postponed in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and other challenges in the United Kingdom. Even through these unprecedented circumstances, BGEA says they have remained committed to the goal of proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, said, ‘We want all people to know that God loves them and everlasting life is available to anyone. This remains the purpose for every BGEA event, and it is why we have named the rescheduled tour the God Loves You Tour – UK.’
Evangelist Franklin Graham has announced plans for his re-scheduled UK God Loves You Tour set to take place in the 2022.
The news comes after the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association won a legal case after a planned event in June 2020 at Sheffield Arena in the North of England had previously been cancelled following objections from LGBT activists. But the city council backed down and Franklin now will preached at the venue in May 2022 as well in other locations across the nation.
Ciarán Kelly – The Christian Institute:
What you have here is a situation of people who wanted to share the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ and were prevented from doing so by a council that didn’t like it’s particular view on marriage being only between a man and a woman. And what I’m looking forward to now is hearing that the other venues that stopped the preaching of the Gospel all back down.
Meanwhile Roger Chilvers from the Billy Graham Association said they have high expectations that this tour will put the message of the message back into the heart of society.
Roger Chilvers – BGEA UK:
One of the things that encourages us is this renewed spirit of wanting to lay down the foundations for preaching the Gospel and sharing the Gospel who have either never heard or hear but not responded. It puts the Gospel message and the preaching of the Gospel message at the forefront of churches but also the communities in which we find ourselves in.
And preparations are well underway as Franklin Graham prepares to preach in Liverpool, South Wales, Sheffield and London in May and July next year.
