LOS ANGELES, CA — In the wake of devastating wildfires sweeping through California, CityServe is coordinating urgent relief efforts to assist families impacted by the catastrophic fires, particularly in Los Angeles County. Truckloads of relief supplies have already been deployed, which contain water, food, hygiene items, clothes and a number of other essentials.
Dry conditions and 90 mph coastal winds have made containing the fires increasingly difficult despite the efforts of emergency personnel. The combination of fires—Palisades, Eaton, Hurst, Lidia, and Sunset—have damaged over 2,000 structures, displaced over 130,000 people and tragically taken the lives of at least five individuals. In the face of this disaster, CityServe is leveraging its extensive network of churches and community partners to offer immediate support to those in need.
“We are heartbroken by the scale of this tragedy and the lives that have been lost,” said Karl Hargestam, Executive Director of CityServe Network. “Our prayers are with the families and communities who have lost loved ones and those whose lives have been upended. We are fully committed to providing not just resources but also the compassion and hope needed to help them heal in this critical moment.”
CityServe is working closely with local churches and community partners to assess the most pressing needs. Trucks are coming to their Bakersfield headquarters first for sorting, where the CityServe team then determines which locations are best suited for command centers and delivery closer to the fire damage. With the situation continuing to evolve, the organization is focused on delivering both immediate relief and long-term support to help families rebuild their lives.
