Chaplains Bring Compassionate Healthcare to Kenya

KENYA — At the Kijabe Hospital in Kenya, compassionate healthcare is taken to the next level. Each patient is supported physically and spiritually as each ward has its own chaplain on standby, ready to bring reassurance and the Gospel to each patient.

Samaritan’s Purse helps the Kijabe Hospital achieve this mission by supporting a local chaplaincy training program, where local evangelists are trained to be the hands and feet of Christ for those in the most need. After each chaplain completes their training, they are prepared and led by the Gospel to remind each patient and each patient’s family that God will always be there to help them even in their time of hardship.

Rev Geoffrey NdivoSpiritual Affairs Manager, AIC Kijabe Hospital:

Hospitalization and sickness has its own challenges and so people will come to the hospital. People need support, need assurance and the Gospel.

Samaritan’s purse has been very instrumental in coming up with a program. The chaplains have gone through the heart of a chaplain, very vital and very important because it helps put everything together, all the pieces. So we have a chaplain in every major ward.

Just do bedside evangelism and prayer with the patients one on one. And the outpatient we have two chaplains who pray with patients in waiting areas. Christ can come in and just intervene in one’s life. And so and even not just the patient, but also their relatives. We want to be there for those who are suffering to be the hands and the feet of Christ, just to help people get to know that Christ has not forgotten them.

Christ has not abandoned to them that Christ is still with them, that Christ is the greatest comforter. Thank you. Samaritan’s Purse, for what you do. And so we are always grateful.
