ASIA — A ship named Doulos Hope acquired by the missionary organization Operation Mobilization (OM) in 2022 has undergone a year-long renovation process to become the organization’s first vessel of this kind operating in shallow waters, such as rivers and lakes.
The missionary organization Operation Mobilization acquired a new ship.
The Doulos Hope will be the ministry’s first to operate in shallow waters, such as rivers and lakes.
The new vessel has undergone a year-long renovation process.
Doulos Hope will be able to reach more people in inland contexts.
The word “doulos” in Greek means “servant.” Like the Logos Hope, it is equipped with a floating bookstore that brings Christian literature to the ports it visits.
The crew, mainly composed of young people, will organize missionary and aid initiatives.
The ship was inaugurated on May 7th in Singapore, with a special ceremony.
“It is very exciting to see Doulos Hope now open its doors to the public, and we welcome all visitors who come on board,” Pil-Hun Park – General Director of Doulos Hope.
Doulos Hope’s main area of work will be Asia, where it hopes to form “many partnerships.”
About Operation Mobilisation (OM)
Operation Mobilisation started in the summer of 1957 when George Verwer and two friends sold their possessions to raise money for a trip to distribute Christian literature in Mexico. From this first trip, the small team began to share their vision to mobilize Christians from around the world to reach the nations. As hundreds of Christians responded, the Operation Mobilisation movement was born.
Today, over 3,300 OM workers, representing over 100 nationalities, are bringing God’s love and truth to millions every year.
