GOA, INDIA — Gospel for Asia (GFA World and affiliates like Gospel for Asia Canada) founded by Dr. K.P. Yohannan – Discussing the Gospel for Asia pastor Toshan and his wife who heard of the struggles people were facing due to the coronavirus lockdowns and how they decided to help.
Gospel for Asia (GFA) pastor Toshan, and his wife, Unnati, sat at home waiting out the lockdown. Pastor Toshan, like all the Gospel for Asia (GFA) pastors in the nation, were forced to halt their worship services and gatherings in order to abide by the regulations put in place by the government to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
Even though Pastor Toshan couldn’t meet with his congregation, he and Unnati, who is the Women’s Fellowship leader in their state of Goa, did their best to stay in touch with each of the believers, offering encouragement and guidance in their walks with the Lord.
One evening, as the couple watched the news on TV, they heard stories of families struggling to even get one meal a day during the lockdown.
“Why should I not help such people?” Pastor Toshan asked himself.
The next day, the husband and wife visited a nearby slum, where hundreds of migrant laborers live, to discern what type of provisions would be most helpful. Onions, rice, potatoes, cabbage, green chilis, salt and oil were what the people needed. So Pastor Toshan and Unnati purchased and packed sacks of groceries to distribute.
Around 150 families received the much-needed supplies. Pastor Toshan and Unnati also shared with these families more information about COVID-19 and how to protect themselves from the virus.
