TURKEY — Since an earthquake rocked the people of Syria and Turkey in February 2023 Christian charity Help The Persecuted has provided practical and spiritual support to more than 12,000 people impacted by the disaster.
As a colossal earthquake rocked the Syria-Turkey border in February 2023, Christian Charity Help the Persecuted has provided practical and spiritual support to more than 12,000 people impacted by the disaster.
Immediately after the earthquake struck, their field ministry team provided heating, shelter, warm clothing and bedding. They’ve served across Syria from Aleppo to Al-Adaqiyah, distributing hundreds of emergency relief kits filled with meat, eggs and fresh produce to persecuted families left devastated by the earthquake.
The charity also provided hygiene supplies as well as laundry and shower facilities. Help the Persecuted has also coordinated several children’s programs including providing winter coats as well as support for special needs children and persecuted youth who’ve known nothing other than war and disaster.
For the first time in a long time they get to be kids, playing water games, eating snacks and encountering gospel hope. And they’ve provided temporary safe accommodation and home repairs for those left displaced by earthquake damage. These people share their extreme gratitude for the vital help they’ve received.
Woman:
I just wanted to extend my thanks to you. To everyone of you who supports us without shame or glorification. But first, thank the Lord for sending you. You give to the right people at the right time in the right place. We are praying for you. Thank you for standing with us.
Man:
I am so happy that you are giving us the opportunity to serve and fix the houses that were damaged by the earthquake. People were very scared to live inside their own houses because of the damage. You enabled us to help them return safely. Whatever we can do, we are doing it. I just want to thank you again for your love and support that you showed our brothers and sisters.
And help the persecuted will continue to stand with the persecuted Christians of Syria facing such ongoing hardship.
