LAHAINA, HAWAII — Volunteers with Samaritan’s Purse are sifting through the ashes of properties, helping homeowners in the Maui community devastated by wildfires.
Todd Taylor – Samaritan’s Purse:
Here in Lahaina, the catastrophic wildfire blew through this area. It devastated everything in its path. The whole way from the mountains out to the sea. Buildings, lives, businesses, homes, all destroyed. Our volunteers are helping homeowners recover valuable items that mean so much to them.
Bill Anthony – Homeowner:
This ring is so important to me. This was my grandfather’s. These wonderful people found it for me. It just means everything to me. So thank you guys so much.
Krista Woodward – Homeowner:
I asked them to find some Hawaiian artifacts and that is what they found and I’m just really, really grateful.
Todd:
We’ve received about 870 requests for assistance. We’ve got lots of volunteer opportunities ahead of us for months to come. We need your help and so we encourage you to stay in touch with us through the website and come to Lahaina and volunteer.
