COVENTRY — A warehouse in Coventry has been transformed into a new state-of-the-art headquarters for an international Christian relief organisation whose projects include a large-scale disaster response in Ukraine and a well-known Christmas initiative for children in need called Operation Christmas Child.
Relocating from London, the humanitarian charity is moving their offices and operations to a new National Ministry Centre just outside of Coventry, named Crosspoint. The warehouse will be used both to store relief items for disasters, such as blankets and hygiene kits, and to process shoebox gifts donated through their Operations Christmas Child project.
“We have a fantastic opportunity to store supplies here in the Midlands in readiness for a disaster response, as well as having enough space to process shoebox gifts that are collected during our Christmas appeal,” shared Darren Tosh, Executive Director of Samaritan’s Purse UK. “We are excited to be joining a new community in the area and have many opportunities for local partnership, whether it is volunteering to process shoebox gifts, seeking a career in the charity sector, or partnering with churches on international mission projects.”
To celebrate the move, Samaritan’s Purse is hosting a free Open Day and Job Fair on Saturday 28th October, 10.30am – 3.30pm. The day will be packed with interactive activities, including a Virtual Reality experience with Operation Christmas Child, and a walkthrough of their Emergency Field Hospital. Special guests include Bishop Mike Royal. There will also be a chance to meet their recruitment team and explore local job opportunities.
For more information about the open day, check out their Facebook page https://fb.me/e/3WlFfVgGo or call on 020 8559 2044. The warehouse will also serve as a Drop-off Location for Coventry residents to donate gift-filled shoeboxes through until 21stNovember.
