With the backing of a U.S.-led coalition, Iraq’s military has battled back the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Mosul, that nation’s second largest city, in an initiative called “Operation Conquest.”

Mosul had been a major victory for ISIS in June 2014 as they captured the city of more than 2 million people and a large area of northwest Iraq — the Nineveh Province — in their attempt to create a caliphate. The assault began in villages surrounding Mosul and continues today in the city, which is the capital of Nineveh. The assault began in late March.

In the midst of the ongoing conflict in Syria and Iraq with radical Islamists, plus terrorists attacks in major European Cities and California, Pioneers USA reminds the Christian community that being Muslim doesn’t equal being a terrorist. With its Arab World Media ministry, Pioneers is reaching Muslims through social media in an effort they call “While it is Day.” The Pioneers approach can reduce the risk to Christians who might otherwise be serving in hostile environments.
