The Mailbox Club

VALDOSTA, GA – The Mailbox Club began as a modest ministry meant to provide follow-up programs for children’s Bible clubs that met in rural schools throughout the southeastern United States.

As the ministry gained recognition, it evolved into a series of correspondence courses used by young people across the entire country. By 1990, The Mailbox Club had expanded into Eastern Europe.

The Mailbox Club Approach

Throughout its entire ministry, The Mailbox Club has maintained a highly focused approach. In that sense, the ministry has not evolved; it has expanded. It has not become overburdened under the weight of its own work. Its reach has far exceeded expectations. Collaboration with like-minded partners around the world has allowed The Mailbox Club to concentrate on its core mission of writing and publishing Bible lessons for children and young people.

TMC lessons are written and printed in more than 100 different languages. The team distributes the lessons in cooperation with other major ministries. Then they engage and teach indigenous leaders who train the teachers who instruct the children.

The power of collaboration is clearly evidenced in the TMC strategy of providing the resources for other ministries to use within their separate infrastructure and facilities.

Partners of The Mailbox Club include Compassion International, Breath of Life Africa, Source of Light, RUN Ministries, Child Evangelism Fellowship, Torch Ministries, and the Jesus Film Project, and others. The materials are arranged in 10 to 12 lessons that are taught over a period of months, defined by each partner’s programs.

The Mailbox Club Outcomes

The results of the TMC approach are stunning. The Mailbox Club 2020 Annual Report includes a global summary of Bible Clubs using TMC materials.

  • Over 52 million lessons printed
  • Nearly 4.5 million students taking TMC lessons
  • Almost 3.5 million certificates of completion were awarded.
  • Nearly 1.8 million salvation experiences reported

All the field-level work is accomplished through more than half-a-million volunteer teachers under the auspices of more than 58,000 churches.

Those numbers are amazing. However, nothing can compare with the outcomes reported by students, former students, and teachers.

“I learned that the Bible is not like any other book. The Bible is the guide for my life, and it teaches me to obey God.”

“I understand what forgiveness is and that I am forgiven through the blood of Jesus and that He loves me. I know I will go to Heaven.”

“I am from Sudan, living as a refugee in Egypt. I know from the lessons that Jesus died for my sins on the cross. I now know that I will live with Him forever and will not become a refugee when [I die] because I will have a permanent home with Jesus.”

“I used to feel [that] I am no good, and nobody likes me . . . [but] now I know I am a child of God. I like the verse saying, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’”

The ROI Ministry named The Mailbox Club as one of its Top 10 ministries in 2019 based on reaping significant outcomes with the finances entrusted to them. Dividing the program costs by the number of students completing courses, the cost per student discipled is an astounding 82 cents.

To God be the glory for what He has done, what He is doing, and what He will do with The Mailbox Club in the days to come.
