INDIA — Christian humanitarian agency GFA World is distributing urgently needed food supplies to help families fighting for their lives amid India’s devastating second wave of COVID-19.
GFA World Founder K.P. Yohannan says in the midst of such a tsunami of suffering their workers are also seeing an unprecedented response to the Gospel of Christ.
In response to India’s devastating second wave of Covid 19 humantiarian agency GFA World is distributing vital food supplies to help thousands of families fighting for their lives.
GFA World Founder KP Yohannan says as they bring compassion, prayer and humanitarian aid in the midst of this tsunami of suffering they are hearing countless stories of transformed lives.
“This family with four children and the husband and wife were thinking to end their life, committing suicide as a family pact because of starvation and helplessness in this crisis. And it was our Sisters of Compassion that sent help. And they said ‘we now know there’s a God who knows us and we were going to kill ourselves.’ And of course the 20kg of rice and materials they gave and promised to go back and help. And that’s only an example. There’s the beggar children on the streets, the blind and the helpless.”
KP says it’s vital not to focus on the overwhelming crisis they are facing but on the unprecedented opportunity to demonstrate the love of Christ to some of the poorest people on the planet.
“We should look at it from God’s perspective. It’s an opportunity to feed the 5,000. It’s an opportunity to held the blind and lepers and we are the living Christ now in our generation. Let us search out how we can be part of relieving the agony of people and especially winning them to the Lord Jesus Christ and his love and mercy through our involvement. This is a huge opportunity for us to express Christ’s love.
And GFA World is currently rushing vital oxygen supplies and equipment as they continue to save as many lives as they can while providing the eternal hope of Christ.
