Gospel for Asia Invites Public to COVID-19 Grocery Giveaway

GFA World and partners ready to help feed local families at next event, with participation from Rep. Lance Gooden, Oct. 24

WILLS POINT, TX — Supported by a small band of local volunteers and ministry partners, Gospel for Asia (GFA World) is gearing up to give away hundreds of free food packages Saturday, Oct. 24, to help local families impacted by COVID-19.

Gospel for Asia (GFA World) is gearing up to give away hundreds of free grocery food packages to help local families impacted by COVID 19.
Rep. Gooden Scheduled to Attend Wills Point Food Giveaway: Bishop Danny Yohannan of Wills Point-based ministry Gospel for Asia (GFA World) and other local volunteers last month helped distribute USDA “Farmers to Families” food boxes to support local families impacted by COVID-19. GFA World’s next grocery giveaway will be Sat. Oct. 24 from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. — or until USDA food boxes run out — at its campus at 1116 St. Thomas Way, Wills Point.

The COVID-19 food relief giveaway is the fourth grocery distribution in recent months at GFA World’s headquarters in Wills Point, benefiting families from Van Zandt and neighboring counties.

The international mission agency — known for its humanitarian work in Asia — is planning to stage local food distributions every month while supplies last.

Congressman Lance Gooden, who represents Texas’ 5th district in the U.S. House of Representatives, is scheduled to participate in the upcoming event.

“I appreciate the work Gospel for Asia does around the world and right here at home,” he said.

Last month, hundreds of families received USDA “Farmers to Families” produce boxes, loaded into their vehicles by local volunteers, including Gospel for Asia (GFA World) vice president Bishop Danny Yohannan and Wills Point Mayor Mark Turner.

Fighting Hunger, Everyone Welcome

“If anyone is in need of food, we invite them to come to GFA World’s campus on Oct. 24, where they will be most welcome,” Yohannan said. The event will take place at Gospel for Asia (GFA World) at 1116 St. Thomas Way in Wills Point, from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. — or until USDA food boxes run out — on Sat. Oct. 24.

To help the local community during the pandemic, Gospel for Asia (GFA World) is partnering with Body of Life (www.bodyoflife.org) — a Christian nonprofit helping feed hungry people across East Texas.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Body of Life and the USDA Farmers to Families initiative to make sure no family, and no child, goes hungry in our local communities during this pandemic,” Yohannan said.

“So many people have suffered through sickness, job loss, reduced work hours, and financial hardship over the past months,” he said. “Jesus cares deeply about people and their needs — and, in our own humble way, we simply want to show our neighbors that we care and God loves them.”
