INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The U.S. Dry Cleaning Corp., doing business as Tuchman Cleaners, an Indiana dry cleaner chain and World Help, an international humanitarian organization, have formed an unexpected partnership to fight global poverty. Tuchman Cleaners, who has 24 stores in Indianapolis, has joined forces with humanitarian aid group World Help to help develop impoverished communities across the globe.
Tuchman Cleaners will pair each of its dry cleaner stores in Indianapolis with an impoverished community where World Help works. A portion of the store’s profits will be donated to the community via World Help’s aid programs. Each program focuses on liberating children from the cycle of poverty by providing essential supplies such as food, clothing, clean water, basic medical care and educational opportunities.
Starting April 1, clients will notice a change in their local Tuchman Cleaners stores. Wall displays, media assets and fliers will tell the stories of communities and families who will be directly impacted by their shopping. Clients will learn about World Help’s aid programs and about Tuchman Cleaners’ commitment to charitable giving.
“Tuchman Cleaners is proud to partner with World Help to deliver help and hope to those in most need across the world,” said Jennifer Scott, Tuchman Cleaners Regional Manager.
“Throughout our history as a company, we have striven to be more than just a business, but also an organization that blesses others and leaves a positive impact in our local communities. We are excited to take these same values to an international level, to bless through humanitarian aid and compassion local communities across the world.”
Vernon Brewer, founder and president of World Help, emphasized that global issues like poverty and hunger can and must be addressed by local businesses and organizations as well as international aid groups.
“What I love about businesses like Tuchman Cleaners is that they prove that no matter where we are or what we do, we can all play a role in solving global issues like hunger and poverty,” said Brewer. “Oftentimes we depend on governments or NGOs to act when disaster strikes, but there’s always a step we can take to help someone who is in need. World Help is grateful Tuchman Cleaners took that step and has partnered with us to help transform impoverished communities across the world.”
For the staff of Tuchman Cleaners stores, the partnership is an opportunity to engage in friendly competition. Stores will compete with each other to see who can send the most support to their respective communities.
World Help is a Christian humanitarian organization committed to serving the physical and spiritual needs of people in impoverished communities around the world. Since its inception in 1991, World Help has delivered humanitarian aid to more than 82 million people in 71 countries.
