Chaplains Pray With Thousands Impacted by War in Ukraine

UKRAINE — A team of Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains is seeing a growing openness to the Gospel as they minister to thousands of people throughout Ukraine impacted by the war. Over the past five months they’ve trained 200 Ukrainian chaplains, prayed with over 3,000 people and have led over 350 people to Christ.

Since the war in Ukraine began a team of Billy Graham Rapid Response Team Chaplains have been working alongside Christian relief charity Samaritan’s Purse primarily at their mobile hospitals providing spiritual support to those impacted by this conflict.

Over the past five months they’ve trained 200 Ukrainian chaplains, they’ve prayed with over 3,000 people and over 350 people have come to faith in Christ.

Josh Holland is their International Director.

The sense of the unknown weighs heavy on people’s hearts with no foreseeable end in sight. We’ve ministered to people who’ve had siblings, children and spouses die. We’ve ministered to people who’ve been separated – wives and children got to a safe place while husbands have had to stay back. So there’s crisis, trauma, pain, grief on every level.

Holland says they will continue to help the people of Ukraine for as long as it takes.

We may be there for months or years as long as the need is there. And so our long term plans include training more chaplains. There’s all kinds of opportunities to talk to people, listen, pray with people and when God gives us opportunity ultimately to present the hope that we all have through a relationship with God’s son Christ.
