1,000,000 Christians Fast for the Roaring Twenties

KANSAS CITY, MO – Think Eternity, the ministry of evangelist Matt Brown, is inviting and encouraging 1,000,000 believers to begin this new decade with fasting and prayer for the days ahead. The movement is called the Roaring Twenties Fast.

Think Eternity is inviting 1,000,000 believers to begin this new decade with fasting and prayer. The movement is called the Roaring Twenties Fast.

The fast is aimed primarily at young people so they will approach the 2020s with prayerful expectations, asking the Lord to do great and awesome things. However, those whose youth has disappeared into the past are welcome to participate in this mighty prayer effort.

Dr. Malachi O’Brian, from whom the vision of the Roaring Twenties Fast originated, emphasized that

“The call for one million young people to fast and pray is historic but must not be about any one church, leader, organization or denomination but rather a collective of believers young and old who sense that God is about to do something historic in the roaring twenties.”

The Roaring Twenties Fast Facebook page has already garnered more than 5,500 followers and is receiving an average of 110 posts per day. Pastor Jonathan Foster posted this timeless quote from Watchman Nee:

If we have never consecrated ourselves to the Lord in a thorough way in the past, we have to do it now. We have to say, ‘Lord, for the sake of the church, for the going on of the gospel, for You to have a way, and for the sake of my going on in my own life, I commit myself unreservedly and unconditionally to Your hand. Lord, I gladly put myself in Your hand. I am willing to let You find a way to release Yourself through me.’”

Jon Groves, a project leader with Think Eternity, commented about how the Millennial generation is “searching for answers and ancestors . . . in an attempt to discover purpose and peace.”

His point is that the timing is just right for a 21-day season of fasting and prayer by believers committing themselves to the Lord and asking for Him to send a spiritual awakening into the midst of the chaos currently engulfing the entire globe.

The Roaring Twenties Fast is not about wearing missional t-shirts or posting scripture and inspirational quotes on social media.

“The theme on our hearts for this fast is consecration, to surrender and commit more fully to the Lord. Fasting helps us turn down the noise and focus on what truly matters.”

The Roaring Twenties Fast officially began on January 5th. Nonetheless, the leaders encourage believers to commit to a period of fasting and prayer most appropriate for their circumstances and at any time during 2020.

The National Prayer Committee, the US Prayer Council, the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Council, Alpha Youth, Contend Global, Campus Multiplication Network, Young Adults Today, Moms in Prayer, and Media on Mission are all partnering with Think Eternity to reach the goal of 1,000,000 fasting and praying for the new Roaring Twenties.
