Donating Blood, Saving Lives

Gospel for Asia (GFA)-supported pastor Naitik organized a blood donation camp on April 12, 2018. The believers in his congregation were excited for this opportunity to bless those in need of blood and to show the love of Christ in a practical way. So when the Nepalese Red Cross heard that a pastor was trying to organize a blood drive, they were enthusiastic to come to the church to have members donate their blood for those in need. Influential leaders gathered not for a worship service, but to donate their blood.

Amazed at the Opportunity
At 8:00 a.m., Pastor Naitik opened the day with prayer, dedicating the time to the Lord. The believers felt privileged to give their blood to save other people’s lives. Seventy believers from the local congregation came to donate their blood. They saw it as a noble cause and as a positive expression of their faith, helping to save lives in a very practical way.

“I am happy that for the first time, I could be part of this camp,” Aamaal said, “and donate my blood which can save the life of someone in need.”

Through service projects, just like the blood drive, followers of Christ are making an impact on communities.

Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13, NIV).

This was a great way to share Christ’s love with the people, to show that Christians really do care and want to be active in good deeds. The community was astonished at how much the Christians loved those who do not know Jesus.

“I thanked Pastor Naitik for inviting me to attend this event,” Mr. Hairik, the mayor of the village said. “I am so happy to see … this great work in our society.”
